Tom Daley wins gold at British championships-
Tom Daley won men's platform gold on the final day of the 2015 British diving championships at Plymouth Life Centre. Daley and his coach Jane Figueiredo created the world-first firework routine which he showcased at the competition in preparation for the Rio Olympics in 2016 . The 20-year-old from Plymouth finished with a total of 493.70 points, 66.55 points ahead of his nearest rival. Tom was competing at the British Gas Championships, at the Plymouth Life Centre. It gave him the chance to perfect some of the dives he hopes will get him to next year's Olympics. Tom Daley said “I dived pretty well considering it was the first competition I have done in five months”. |
Sarah Storey to attempt super cycle record-
Paralympic cycling star Sarah Storey is going to try and break the record later today, for the furthest distance cycled in an hour on Saturday in London's Olympic velodrome. In an extraordinary sporting career, Dame Sarah Storey has broken 73 world records, first as a top swimmer and then on a bike. The UCI Hour record marks how far a cyclist has travelled in 60 minutes and, for the first time, the record will be open to female competitors after rule changes. The 11-time Paralympic champion will try to break the women's hour record - which could be her toughest challenge yet. The record stands at 46.065km and Sarah storey said I’m excited and nervous at the chance of being the first woman to take on the record in over a decade,”. |
